The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) marketable skills initiative is part of the state’s 60x30TX plan and was designed to help students articulate their skills to employers.  Marketable skills are those skills valued by employers and/or graduate programs that can be applied in a variety of work or education settings and may include interpersonal, cognitive, and applied skill areas.

Graduates of the BBA in Supply Chain Management program at SHSU are equipped with a robust set of marketable skills that prepare them to thrive in dynamic, global business environments. These skills include:

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret data, assess performance metrics, and make data-driven decisions to optimize supply chain operations.
  • Process Optimization: Proficiency in identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions to improve logistics, procurement, and inventory management.
  • Technology Integration: Competence in using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, supply chain software, and emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Project Management: Skills in planning, executing, and managing supply chain projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Procurement: Knowledge of vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, and cost analysis to support strategic purchasing decisions.
  • Global Perspective: Understanding of international trade, cross-border logistics, and global supply chain strategies.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills to work effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify potential disruptions and develop contingency plans to ensure supply chain resilience.

These competencies position graduates for roles such as supply chain analyst, logistics coordinator, procurement specialist, operations manager, and more—across industries including manufacturing, retail, healthcare, and technology.
