1 Students must take nine hours of Mathematics which includes MATH 1384 and MATH 1385 as six of the nine required hours.  MATH 3381 is the preferred third math.   MATH 1384 satisfies the Core Curriculum requirement for Component Area II (Mathematics) and the major. 2 BIOL 1408 and BIOL 1436  are preferred to satisfy the Core Curriculum requirement for Component Area III (Life and Physical Science) and the major.  Substitute courses may be considered. 3 ENGL 2332 or ENGL 2333  is preferred to satisfy the Core Curriculum requirement for Component Area IV (Language, Philosophy, and Culture) and the major.  Substitute courses may be considered. 4 CAMX 2301 is recommended for the Component Area V (Creative Arts) requirement. 5 PSYC 1301 is recommended for Component Area VIII (Social and Behavioral Science) and the major. 6 ECHE 4343 is best taken with Field Block 1 or Field Block 2 though it can be taken during other semesters to obtain full time enrollment.  ECHE 4343 requires active field experience in a kindergarten or pre-kindergarten classroom during the semester taken. 7 ECHE 3301 and ECHE 3316 are blocked courses that are taken together and require Field Experience (32 hours).

EDST 3301. Change in Education. 3 Hours.

Students examines the evolution of education across various sectors, with emphasis on transformative changes in K-12, higher education, and corporate training environments. Students will explore how technological advances, global events (particularly COVID-19), and pedagogical innovations have reshaped learning experiences. Through analysis of historical trends and future predictions, students will develop skills to design effective training programs and adapt to emerging educational paradigms.

SPED 3301. Special Education Supports. 3 Hours.

Teacher candidates obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to design and implement effective supports for students with disabilities in educational settings. Candidates will examine the foundations of special education and Section 504, with emphasis on developing and implementing IEPs and 504 plans that promote access to learning. The course emphasizes the use of functional behavior assessment, assistive technology, accommodations, and modifications to meet learner needs. Candidates will also apply the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), scaffolding, and explicit instruction to create supportive, responsive, and well-structured classroom environments.
