POLSĀ 4385. Political Violence & Terrorism. 3 Hours.

Students examine the causes, forms, and consequences of political violence that occur within states. Topics may include state repression, contentious politics, terrorism, insurgency, guerrilla warfare, civil wars, and political extremism. The course also explores the motivations and strategic choices of state and non-state actors, the experiences of civilians in violent environments, and approaches to preventing, mitigating, or resolving domestic political violence.
Prerequisite: 6 hours of POLS.
