Students examine principles, practices, and tools used to organize library materials for effective access and retrieval. Students will explore how information resources are systematically arranged, described, and made discoverable. The course covers essential topics in bibliographic organization, including classification systems, cataloging standards, subject analysis and controlled vocabularies, and authority control.
