FORSĀ 5117. Controlled Substances. 1 Hour.
Students examine the foundations of drug chemistry as they relate to controlled substance analysis. Concepts covered in this course include chemical foundations of drug chemistry, physicochemical properties of drugs, drug classes and classification, controlled substance scheduling, sampling, and standard practices and guidelines for controlled substance analysis. Students develop a fundamental understanding of controlled substance analysis in accordance with recommendations from the Scientific Working Group for the Analysis of Seized Drugs and ASTM standards related to sampling, quality assurance, and the identification of seized drugs.
