ETME 4376. Applied Thermodynamics. 3 Hours.

Students learn about fundamental thermodynamics principles, including energy, systems, properties, state, energy transfer by heat and work, energy conversion efficiencies, and properties of pure substances and ideal gases. Mass and energy analysis of closed and open systems is emphasized, including flow work, energy transport, and steady-flow devices. The first and second laws are applied to heat engines, refrigerators, heat pumps, reversible and irreversible processes, and the Carnot cycle.
Prerequisite: ETME 2305, PHYS 1301, and PHYS 1101.
