CLIN 7801. Adult Inpatient Medicine Clerkship – 8 Weeks. 8 Hours.

Students gain experience in the care of hospitalized adults as they complete the 8-week course in the third year during their core rotations experience. Experiences may include 8 consecutive weeks of hospital medicine or 4-weeks of hospital medicine and 4-weeks of a subspecialty service with heavy hospital responsibilities via consultations and/or intensive care (e.g., nephrology, pulmonary medicine, infectious diseases). Students engage with patients in the collection of data, perform physical examinations, and work with their Attending physician to reason through differential diagnoses and generate a plan for management of serious illness requiring hospitalization.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of all coursework in years 1 and 2 and passing score on COMLEX-USA Level 1.
