CLIN 7039. Pediatrics - Critical Care. 1-4 Hours.
Students train with pediatric critical care specialists who care for children and adolescents with the most serious disease processes in the intensive care setting. Students engage with patients and their families in the collection of data, perform physical examinations, and work with their attending physician to reason through differential diagnoses and generate plans for management of patients requiring intensive care due to need for oxygenation, ventilation, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), arterial monitoring, multiple intravenous infusions, intravascular infusions requiring titration, continuous renal replacement therapy, and other highly-skilled interventions. Credit: 1-4 hours.
Prerequisite: CLIN 7406.
