CLINÂ 7033. Advanced Pathology. 1-4 Hours.
Students train with pathologists who provide a wide spectrum of pathology services. Opportunities may include blood banking/transfusion medicine; cyto-, dermato-, hemato-, and neuropathology; chemical pathology; forensic pathology; medical microbiologic pathology; molecular and genetic pathology; and pediatric pathology. The experience may include inpatient and outpatient pathological interpretations, hospital and outpatient surgical operating room consultations, and rotations in the medical microbiology laboratory. Students engage with pathologists in the preparation of specimens, attend pathology rounds, attend surgical procedures when requested, attend the microbiology lab when requested, and work with their attending physician to reason through a differential diagnosis for a wide range of disorders. Credit:1-4 hours.
