ARTS 4387. History Of Mexican Art. 3 Hours.

Students engage in a survey of Mexican and Mesoamerican art. Students study images of prehistoric artifacts and the art and architecture of pre-Hispanic cultures, including the Olmec, Mixtec, Maya, and Aztec. The impact of the Spanish conquest, the role of art in the Mexican Revolution and the Socialist movement, Arte Popular, the Muralists, the late twentieth century, and contemporary Mexican art are also explored.
Prerequisite: ARTS 1303 and (ARTS 2386 or ARTS 3385) with a grade of C or better.

The Art History minor may be completed by taking all online courses or by taking a combination of online and face-to-face courses. Courses offered in person are ARTS 1303 , ARTS 3385 , ARTS 3386 ,  ARTS 3387 , ARTS 3388 , ARTS 4317 , ARTS 4385 , and  ARTS 4387 Courses offered online are ARTS 1303 , ARTS 3385 , ARTS 3382 , ARTS 4381 , ARTS 4384 , and  ARTS 4387 .  Not all courses are offered each semester, so students should consult with an academic advisor to develop their plan of study.
