Academic Programs

The Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies degree is an interdisciplinary degree that allows students to design a curriculum to meet individual goals by connecting the Texas core curriculum, 3 academic minors, one General Studies capstone course, and appropriate supporting courses. During the last semester of senior year, BS in Liberal Studies majors will complete a capstone course (UNIV 4301) in which the student will complete a project that requires the integration of knowledge and ideas from the three areas of study.

• Students must be in good standing with at least a 2.0 overall GPA to declare a BS in Liberal Studies major.
• Prior to declaration, students must attend an information session with an academic advisor.
• Students must have senior hours, be in good academic standing, have completed their required upper level English writing course, and receive coordinator approval to register for LSTU 4301

Certain minor combinations may not be allowed if coursework is duplicative. Please consult with the BS in Liberal Studies coordinator to ensure that the proposed combination of minors is appropriate  In keeping with the intent of minors to broaden the student’s background knowledge, none of the Degree-Specific social-science courses taken may be used to satisfy the requirement of any minor.
