Academic Programs
The Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) degree is an interdisciplinary degree that allows students to design a curriculum to meet individual goals by connecting the Texas core curriculum, 3 academic minors, one General Studies capstone course, and appropriate supporting courses. During the senior year, BGS majors will complete a capstone course (UNIV 4301) in which the student will complete a project that requires the integration of knowledge and ideas from the three areas of study.
Requirements to Apply
- Students must be a junior or senior in good standing with at least a 2.0 overall GPA to declare a BGS major.
- Prior to declaration, students must attend an information session with an academic advisor.
- Students must have senior hours, be in good academic standing, and have completed their required upper level English writing course to register for UNIV 4301.

A list of all available minors for the Bachelor of General Studies degree can be found here , and a list of available on-line minors can be found here .
