READÂ 3315. Teaching Multiple Literacies. 3 Hours.
Teacher candidates survey the theory and instruction of multiple literacies in grades EC 6, with a focus on reading, writing, thinking, listening, speaking, and viewing as foundational skills. Teacher candidates examine instructional contexts that promote both general and discipline specific literacy across traditional print, digital, visual, and media genres. Emphasis may be placed on strategies for improving comprehension through vocabulary development, fostering inquiry, and supporting learners in interpreting, analyzing, evaluating, and producing meaning across various modes of communication.
