Notes

A minimum grade of C is required for Interior Design majors in all FACS, ARTS, and ETCM courses and in prerequisites for these courses. The program requires a 2.5 GPA.

FACS 2364, FACS 2386, and FACS 2387 should be taken concurrently.

FACS 2364 and FACS 2387 are prerequisites for FACS 2365.

FACS 2387 is a prerequisite for FACS 2388.

FACS 1360 or FACS 2364 is a prerequisite for ETCM 2363.

FACS 2365, FACS 2388, and ARTS 1316 are prerequisites for FACS 3337.

ETCM 2363 and FACS 3337 are prerequisites for FACS 3338.

ETCM 2363, FACS 2365, and FACS 2388 are prerequisites for FACS 3365.

ARTS 3385 is a prerequisites for ARTS 4384.

Passage of a sophomore portfolio review is required prior to taking FACS 3337.

FACS 4369 requires department approval and 100 hours of course work completed.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) marketable skills initiative is part of the state’s 60x30TX plan and was designed to help students articulate their skills to employers.  Marketable skills are those skills valued by employers and/or graduate programs that can be applied in a variety of work or education settings and may include interpersonal, cognitive, and applied skill areas.

The BS in Interior Design is designed to provide graduates with the following marketable skills:

  • Oral and written communication.
  • Technical interior design knowledge.
  • Manual and digital drawing.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Application of evidence-based design.
