Graduate Certificate in General Psychology
The General Psychology certificate includes advanced psychology courses and is designed primarily for students who currently teach or wish to teach psychology in either the public schools or in the community college system. The certificate is also designed for individuals who wish to expand their capabilities and/or marketability. This certificate focuses primarily on the experimental core areas of psychology such as learning, cognition, physiology, neuropsychopharmacology, and developmental.
Applicants seeking admission to the graduate certificate program in General Psychology must submit the following directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions:
- Graduate Application
- Application fee
- Official transcript from the baccalaureate degree granting institution
- A minimum of a 3.2 undergraduate grade point average
- Three letters of recommendation
- A statement of personal interests and goals
We strongly recommend that applicants have at least 9 hours of undergraduate coursework in Psychology. Ordinarily, the most useful letters of recommendation come from university faculty who are able to describe the applicant’s potential for success in graduate study. The Department does not use a recommendation form but rather asks referees to send letters on their own letterhead. Please, submit all documents to:
