PHYS 4366. Introduction to Quantum Mechanics. 3 Hours.
Students study the wave nature of matter as described by quantum mechanics, which becomes significant at atomic scales. Topics may include the harmonic oscillator, potentials, symmetries, rotation and spin, the hydrogen atom, and atomic spectra. Completion of Differential Equations (MATH 3376) is recommended, though it may be taken concurrently.
Prerequisite: PHYS 3391.
