FACS 4362 and FACS 3369 require Junior Standing.

BIOL 2401 is a prerequisite forFACS 2362.

FACS 1441 or FACS 2441 is a prerequisite for FACS 3445.

FACS 3367 requires the completion of 4 hours of Biology, Chemistry, and FACS 1441, FACS 1367, or FACS 2362.

FACS 1367 or FACS 2362 is a prerequisite for FACS 3370.

BIOL 2420 requires a "C" or higher in BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402 and in CHEM 1406 or CHEM 1411.  This course will satisfy 4 hours in Core Component Area III.

ACCT 2301 requires 18 hours of course work completed.

MGMT 3310 requires 50 hours of course work completed.

PSYC 4332 requires PSYC 1301 as a prerequisite for FSN majors.

ENGL 1301 and ENGL 1302 are prerequisites for ENGL 3330 and satisfy Core Component Area I.

The estimated cost of completing the DPD Program, including tuition and fees, books, lab coat, and SHSDA dues is $37,139. (Cost of tuition, fees and textbooks is subject to change without notice). Students are expected to provide themselves with medical insurance coverage and insurance that includes medical coverage on their vehicles as they travel to required work experience or job shadowing sites.

The program requires students to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 prior to declaring an FSN major and submitting a degree plan.

Upon completion of the B.S. degree in Food Science and Nutrition (Didactic Program in Dietetics), according to the catalog under which the student’s degree plan is filed, the student will be issued a verification statement of eligibility to apply for a Dietetic Internship.

A grade point minimum of 3.0 is required in order for a graduate of this program to be issued a Letter of Verification of completion of the program. The DPD director will assist students with the Dietetic Internship application process.  Sam Houston State University does not guarantee Dietetic Internship placement or selection.

The Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) is currently granted accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and  Dietetics.
